Type Locality and Naming

Upper Shyok Valley: Type section is exposed at Morgo and the uppermost part at Burtsa Yoma. [Original Publication: Gergan, J. T. & Pant, P. C., 1983. Lithology and Thickness

Clayey limestone. Comprises grey to pink massive limestone and thinly bedded calcareous shale. Over 920 m.

Lower contact

Morgo Formation overlies the Chhongtash Fm (Carboniferous-Permian)

Boat-shaped conodonts recovered from Morgo Formation indicate a lower-middle Triassic age (Juyal, 2018)
